OK, so I’m sitting in my cube at the moment, on a nice sunny Thursday afternoon. It’s day 4 in America, I’m still not fully adjusted to the time (I keep waking up at 4am), so am having some coffee.

A recap of my trip so far:

Woke up early Monday morning to get to Heathrow on time for my flight (3 hours beforehand). On arriving I wasn’t convinced that the ‘quick bag drop’ was going to be quick, turning out to be the better part of an hour, at which point I joined the next queue.

Was greeted by a familiar “Jon?!” in Starbucks this morning.

It was none other than the Job, the American Engineer in Cambridge, who was a staple of second year life.

I was aware he was visiting the UK sometime around next weekend, but to have him one person back in Starbucks!

Well it’s Friday, which is nice.

Bit tired as I was fiddling with my media pc trying to get mythtv/linux to co-operate and give me a widescreen signal on my TV last night.

Managed to get it pretty much working, but still having problems with the aspect ratio/overscan settings to get the DVB to look like regular TV.

I have to say I’ve been tempted several times to give Windows Media Centre a shot….
